Cyber Crime Event: GDPR and Cyber Crime – The Role of Trustees

Cyber Crime Event: GDPR and Cyber Crime – The Role of Trustees

Thursday, 7th March 2019, 10.00am – 12.00pm, Dunchurch Park Hotel, Rugby Road, Dunchurch, Rugby, Warwickshire CV22 6PL

Overview
In the run up to the 25th May, we were all inundated with emails pleading for us to consent for organisations to continue to hold our details and begging us to read new privacy policies. We were frightened on a daily basis with threats of eye watering fines, of tales of businesses being unable to continue to use their marketing databases, and the fear of a deluge of subject access requests. But what’s happened since the 25th May 2018 ? The world hasn’t come to an end.

In a speech to the CBI in September 2018, James Dipple-Johnstone the Deputy Commissioner at the ICO stated:

“If you adopt privacy by design, treat cyber security as a boardroom issue, and demonstrate a robust culture with appropriate transparency, control and accountability for your and your customers’ data, then we will not usually have an issue with you should the worst happen.”

As Directors, Trustees and Leaders in an organisation, the legislation requires us all to be accountable and to ensure that the personal data of our customers and employees is kept safe and treated with respect.

During this education session you will be provided with an overview of what’s happened since the 25th May 2018 and presented with some forecasts on what can be expected in the future. We will look at opportunities that good data governance can provide an organisation.

The award winning team at Risk Evolves will be joined by representatives of the West Mercia and Warwickshire Police force and an ethical hacker from OmniCyberSecurity. The session will feature a ‘live hack’ on an environment to demonstrate how easy it can be for criminals to compromise your environment. This is not “death by PowerPoint”.
