Businesses advised to keep an eye out for PBX Fraud

There has been an increase in the number of Private Branch Exchange frauds reported to the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau. This is of particular importance when businesses and schools are likely to be closed for holidays or weekends.

Private Branch Exchanges are telephone systems used by SMEs for internal and external calls. Hackers target the systems to allow calls to be routed through the system to high rate often international and premium rate numbers.

More advice on preventing PBX Fraud is available on the Get Safe Online website: https://www.getsafeonline.org/hardware-and-devices/PBX-fraud/
